Amazon.com: Are you a customer?
There are many large internet companies that are known worldwide. Most of these companies are known for their online retail service. Some companies offer electronic commerce (e-commerce) and cloud computing service. One such company is Amazon, which is now the third largest online company in terms of revenue. Amazon is now the largest internet retailer in the world.
I decided to write this blog about amazon because I am a customer and I am a recent associate of amazon.com.
A brief history about amazon
Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos, who is now the world’s wealthiest man. The company was started on July 5, 1994, a day after US Independence Day. It was operating under the name Cadabra, Inc. The name “Cadabra, Inc.” was used from 1994 to 1995. After 1995, the name was changed to Amazon, Inc., and has operated under that name up to today’s date. The company was started in Bezos’ garage in Seattle Washington.
The name of the company was changed from Cadabra to Amazon a few months after it started due to a lawyer mishearing the name “Cadabra” and thought it was “Cadaver”.
Jeff Bezos named his company Amazon after looking through the dictionary and found out that Amazon is a cool and exotic place. Also, Amazon River was the biggest river in the world, so, he named the company ‘Amazon’ because he wanted it to become the biggest book store in the world. So, you see, Amazon started out first as a book store company before starting to branch off into selling other products. He had first come up with 20 products that he thought could be sold online and then narrowed it down to five products: compact discs, computer hardware, computer software, videos, and, of course, books.
The company began its service in July 1995 and sold its first book on Amazon.com called: Douglas Hofstadter’s Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought.
In October 1995, the company announced itself to the public. In 1997 the company started selling on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol AMZN.

For persons who are football/soccer fans or professional players, they will be looking for soccer related products such as soccer shoes, gloves, socks, jerseys, etc. There are many soccer products available on amazon.com. One of those popular products or items that often searched for are soccer shoes. Several brands of soccer shoes are available on amazon.com. Some of these brands include: Adidas, Nike and Puma. Soccer shoes are available for men, kids and women.
I am an amazon customer, and I bought several products from various categories on amazon. Some of these products I bought were books, computer accessories, music hardware and bags.
Since I am a sports fan and I love football/soccer with a passion, I usually search on Amazon to see which football item are available and at what price they are available. Recently, I did a search for soccer shoes. My search included both Adidas and Nike brand soccer shoes.
I am a Manchester United fan, and as you can expect, I also looked upon Jerseys of Manchester United players. This was done to find out the prices for the jerseys of players such as Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku. When I searched about Adidas football shoes and Manchester United football shoes and have gotten very good results.
Amazon.com has a policy in which they would use your search history and will send you emails with recommendations of products that you may like or want to purchase. I must say that I received quite a number of these emails and I am not annoyed by them. Those emails have helped to remind me that I am an amazon customer and that there are other wonderful products related to what was bought.
Amazon interest items
There are many ways that amazon.com gets its customers and two of those common ways are by word a mouth (someone tells someone and that someone tells me or you), or by advertising by amazon. It doesn’t really matter how you became a customer, what matters is, when you make a purchase of the product that you want and that it is delivered to you on time.
Anyways, the point I am trying to make is, once you sign up to amazon.com and start to make a purchase or do searches on their site for any product, they will analyse your most recent searches and send you an email. As I said before, the emails sent contain a list of items that amazon thinks you will be interested in. For example, my most recent email that I received was based on my search for Adidas soccer shoes. I got an email showing me a list of Adidas soccer shoes that I may be interested in.
Here is a screenshot of the email:
OK, so you have seen the email. Now I am going to open it and show you a list of the items that are in it.
So, these are the items that were being recommended by amazon for me to purchase. Take a good look on each pic and you will notice that there is an option to “learn more” or “Add to wish List”. If you click on either of the two. You will be taken to Amazon.com. The “add to wish-list” option takes you to a page on amazon where you can add several items that you would want to buy but not right now. So, you store them there and when you are ready, you go there and make the purchase.
I mentioned earlier that I received a few emails regarding my searches for Manchester United products. My email inbox has received emails based on that. One such email was about Manchester United Jerseys. Here is a screenshot of the email:
Here are the items they (Amazon) were recommending:
So, amazon was recommending that I buy any of these, or, all these products. Well, since I am budgeting and only buying what I can afford and what I need, I decided to wait until another time to buy these items.
Amazon.com is a great site to buy items online. Amazon has some very good services that you can choose to use, based on your needs. There are millions of products available for you to choose from. As a football fan, I believe you can get almost any football equipment to purchase on Amazon.com, and remember, based on your search history amazon.com will send you an email to recommend products for you to buy.
Also, amazon will email you about items that they think that you are interested in.
