Manchester United Transfer News: transfer targets
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has his hands full as he seeks to sign a transfer target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as well as the Brazilian, Fred. In a recent Manchester United transfer news update, the Red Devils have been informed that they need to act fast if they want to sign the Serbian Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
It has been reported that Manchester United are close to complete the signing of Fred for £52 million.
Transfer target Fred is close to completing £52 million transfer deal
Jose Mourinho wants to sign transfer target Fred of Shakhtar Donetsk to replace Michael Carrick. The midfielder has retired from club and international football and, Manchester United is looking to replace him with the 25-year-old Brazilian, Fred.
Fred is currently on international duty for Brazil ahead of the FIFA World Cup but it is reported that he will become a Manchester United player before the tournament begins on June 14th.
Michael Carrick will be joining Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff, which means I think that he will be giving Fred some mentorship. In another Manchester United transfer news, it has been reported that a deal has been agreed upon and a Medical has been scheduled.
Fred is now training with his Brazilian team-mates and so far he looks good while training. The midfielder said that he had talks with Manchester City in January before the Red Devils made their approach.
When Fred starts to play for United, his presence will strengthen Jose Mourinho’s midfield, especially in the central midfield. Fred is also said to have some good defensive skills. He can carry the ball while attacking and has some excellent passing skills.
Squawka football has reported that Fred won more tackles (23) and completed more take ons than any other Shakhtar Donetsk player in the Champions League this season.
In the Champions League, Fred has:
- 88.5% take on success rate
- 56.1% tackles success rate
When he gets the ball, he carries the ball.
Will Fred fit well into the Manchester United team?
United will hope that Fred will bring some strength to the team and bring some energy and creativity to the team that was lacking near the end of the 2017/2018 season. However, a report by Tom Tighe suggests that Manchester United might struggle to fit Fred into the team.
A lot of work is set out for Jose Mourinho to do in the summer. He has to wait until the end of the World Cup to bring the team back together to train. But, first, they will have to play the USA 2018 tour games. Mourinho will be hoping to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season and, even though the Red Devils finished second it was 19 points behind Pep Guardiola’s team.
The arrival of Fred should be like a supplement to the strength of the United team’s midfield. However, key players such as Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez are expected to play their best too. If these two don’t step up their game and play their best, Manchester United won’t be able to catch up Manchester City.
Manchester United Transfer News: Milinkovic-Savic to join United?
A part of Jose Mourinho’s summer transfer objectives is to sign another transfer target, Milinkovic-Savic. In a recent Manchester United transfer news, it was reported that Serbian midfielder who had an excellent season at Lazio, is one of Mourinho’s transfer targets. However, the high transfer fee of £90 million for him has put off United, which means he is now being looked at as a ‘too expensive’ player.
A transfer news about this player is that the Red Devisl had already offered £80 million for Milinkovic-Savic but it was rejected. Other news reports are that United offered £91 million, but that has been rejected too. Seems like Lazio does not intend to sell him. Also, if he does join United, he will be acquired for a fee that is higher than the fee which Pogba was acquired for, which was £89 million back in 2016.
However, Mourinho is still targeting Fred and this can impact the decision to sign another expensive midfielder. However, Milinkovic-Savic’s agent, Mateza Kezman has warned that the value of the midfielder is only going to get higher this summer. The agent said that the Serbian midfielder is one of the best products of European football in the 2017/2018 season, and, that the valuations of the transfer fee are always going up.
Mourinho wants to have an overhaul of his midfield because of the departure of Michael Carrick and, even though United are close to signing Fred, the United boss is still hoping to sign the Milinkovic-Savic this summer, who has been one of the best players of the Serie A.
Who is Mourinho’s other transfer targets for the summer?
Jose Mourinho is looking to transform his defence and midfield and is willing to spend an excess of £200 million on three defenders and two midfielders to do so.
These are the other Manchester transfer targets for Jose Mourinho: Toby Alderweireld and Porto’s right back Diogo Dalot. Other players that are on Mourinho’s transfer target list are Alex Sandro, a left back, and forward such as Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, and Willian from Chelsea.
In terms of the signing of Alex Sandro, a Manchester United transfer news update is that Juventus are aiming to secure a new contract with the Brazilian defender. This news has caused a setback for United because they were hoping to strengthen their defence with this sensational player. The new contract that Juventus sets to sign with the Brazilian could go up until 2023.
Will Manchester United get their transfer targets?
Many United fans are waiting to learn who the new players for Manchester United will be at the end of the summer’s transfer window. While signing players such as Fred seems sure, signing Milinkovic-Savic seems a difficult task since his club has rejected such a big offer. Signing Alex Sandro seems doubtful too, but not much has been heard about Gareth Bale whether he will join United or not. Neither is there a confirmation that he will leave Real Madrid. A signing of Willian from Chelsea seems an option but not much has been said about him joining United.
There have been rumours that the France International forward Anthony Martial will be leaving United but, recent transfer news is that it’s up to United to sell the player if they want- if he requests to leave, that is. There are speculations that if Martial wants to leave the club then he could be used as part of a transfer deal with another club for another star player.
